Elegant front design by using rhombs

With matt-finished stainless steel – UGITOP

The company Hermann Bade GmbH & Co. KG from Bad Bevensen, customer of BRANDT Edelstahldach GmbH, had an elderly round roof hall directly at the approach to their head office which should be modernized and visually reformed.

The project
The round roof hall should not only be revaluated but also receive the character of a modern building. In front of the round gable a square decorative wall was fixed. Roofer of Hermann Bade GmbH & Co. KG installed a 350mm shear wall, consisting of a massive wood construction, at the steel structure. Steel profiles strut the carrying corners of the forward-spaced front element. As front design handmade rhombs from 0,5mm thick matt-finished stainless steel (UGITOP, material no. 1.4301) were fixed at the shear wall. The rhombs have measures of 370x370mm and accurately match with the gate dimensions. The outer edges of the front comply with the same dimensions so that there is a symmetric pattern at the front side with centrically edged corner shingles at building and gate corners. The cladding direction of the rhombs is carried out from the bottom up. They started with halved rhombs at the root points.

A special challenge for the craftsmen of Hermann Bade GmbH & Co. KG was to form corners. They were cladded with special rhombs in order to guarantee the patterns` run. The most important point was to avoid a displacement of the pattern. That is why the corner rhombs were manufactured conically. Double leaf sliding elements were cladded with 200mm high stainless steel blades (horizontally arranged laying seam cover). They were manufactured from rest material of special shingle productions.

The material
Mr. Bade is of the opinion that because of its matt-finished surface and excellent material characteristics UGITOP (here: 0,5mm thickness, material no. 1.4301) of BRANDT Edelstahldach GmbH is perfectly suitable for the production of small format front elements. 0,5mm thick rhombs were fixed in a plane and strainless way. They were produced out of 1.250mm coil material. The new facade of Hermann Bade GmbH & Co. KG is an eyecatcher. It mirrors the company´s technical ability as well as its creativity. The company has shown how multifaceted stainless steel can be used for front designs in terms of rhombs and laying seam covers.
